Pregnancy Diary - WEEK 21
I have been quite stressed this week as I have got a lot going on with my business, my daughter has decided she doesn't want to go to bed before 11pm and I still have this rotten cold. I was reading that your immune system isn't as good during pregnancy as all the antibodies and nutrients are being taken by the baby.
I know it isn't good for the baby when you get stressed so I need to try and chill out. We have decided to try and go away during April, so I will be about 7 months. We are looking at luxury family hotels on the South Coast of England, or North Devon, a real nice hotel with a spa will set us back over £400 for just 3 nights. We know we wont be having a Summer holiday this year because we'll have a newborn so it might be worth spending the money on a luxury few days. Just think of all those lovely massages I can have!
I have been a bit itchy down there this week. In fact at one point I had a green coloured discharge and was a bit worried. I thought at first it was the toilet paper at my friends house, but that was white! She suggested I ring the midwife as green discharge could mean I have an infection. I discovered this about 7pm one evening so I couldn't get hold of my midwife on the usual number. I called the Day Clinic at the hospital for advice and it was the Delivery Suite that answered. I was so embarrassed. I thought they would think I was panicking but the lovely midwife on the phone said that I was right to call and I might well have an infection which isn't good for the baby.
She suggested I might have thrush so buy some Canesten cream to use (not tablets) and if it didn't clear up over the weekend, to contact my doctor on Monday morning. I sent my husband out to Tescos but by the time he got there, the pharmacy was closed. He instead came back with a Canesten Body Wash and a box of cream doughnuts. Is it me, or are men completely hopeless? Still, the doughnuts were nice.
Next day, without using anything, things seemed to clear up, so I didn't bother going to the doctor but I will mention this to the midwife at my next appointment.
