Pregnancy Diary - WEEK 22

Had my scan on Monday this week. It was brilliant. We took my Mum as this is going to be the last Grandchild she has (well from me anyway!). They didn't have scans in her day and she thought it was marvellous how you could see through mine and the baby's body.

The Sonographer was great, she took the time to talk to us and show us every part of the baby. You could see the baby sucking its thumb and then gulping the amniotic fluid down. It really made me feel maternal and I just wanted to grab the screen and touch the baby! At first the lady couldn't get a good view of the baby as it was low down in my pelvis (like I thought it was) but she just tilted the bed slightly and we got a perfect view. She did ask if we wanted to know the sex, but although I was tempted, I would rather wait and find out when its born. It takes all the excitement away, knowing whether you are having a boy or girl. All the measurements are fine and the baby is well so I can now plan ahead and get all my baby stuff out again and see if there is anything else we need to buy.

My next appointment with the midwife is at 24 weeks. I haven't heard the baby's heartbeat yet so I am looking forward to that. Apparently you can tell by the baby's heartbeat whether it's a boy or girl. My last midwife suggested all the way through my last pregnancy I was having a boy and I had a girl, so I don't know how much truth is in that one!

Been itchy down there again this week, so have brought some cream. Am hoping it clears the problem up. I am also eating lots of natural yoghurt, but I don't think the strawberries and sugar I am sprinkling on are helping!
